Sensate's first "off-line" event took place as part of the American Anthropological Association's annual meeting in 2011. "AmbleNOLA" was a participatory sound walk that asked walkers to call-in to a pre-recorded prompt and record thoughts, sounds, and observations about their location. These sonic “fieldnotes” were then remixed, live by sound artist, Ernst Karel into a collective sonic expression of the participants' various routes. The live mix event also featured screenings of audio-visual works by participating anthropologists.
